Background Check Policy

Link2Hope® Volunteer Background Check Policy    We value and rely on our community of volunteers who serve, often sacrificially, their neighbors in the Roanoke Valley.   We also love and value our neighbors who we strive to serve.  Loving them well also means protecting them during a time of vulnerability.  To do that we require a background check for any volunteer who is not in the Inner Circle of the family they have committed to provide a service.      We perform background checks through a national service that pulls information from the following resources:   National Criminal Search (standard)  Sex Offender Search  Social Security Number Trace  Global Watchlist Search    We focus our background check on a criminal history dating back 10 years that may affect the personal safety or property of those we serve. We recognize that God is a God of grace and that he makes all things new, including us! Therefore, when needed, we may also consider personal testimony and references from pastors and faith leaders.  The following history may have an adverse effect on a volunteer’s status:   Theft or robbery  Battery or violence against another  Sex Offense     Volunteers will be screened every 5 years.
